I believe we create our future with our words.
We define our life and our vision with our words.
We use words to tell ourselves what we deserve and what we don’t deserve. BUT…
Have you ever heard yourself say, “I want to do that, but” or, “I was going to ask for a referral, but…”
I’ve noticed that no matter what someone says, if they add a “but” – I brace myself for what is to come next.
I once heard Werner Erhard say, “Everything before ‘but’ is bull.”
“I’d like to lose weight, but – ”
“I’d like more listings, but – ”
What follows “but” is almost always either something that wipes out a compliment, or is an excuse for why people can’t get what they want.
So Here’s A New Magic Word For You
What happens to these sentences if we substitute “and” for “but”?
“I’d like more listings and…”
“I’d like to lose weight and…”
“I’d like to lose weight, and…and here’s how I’m going to do it!”
“I’d like more listings, and…and this is how I’m going to do it.”
“But” stops creativity, and tells you why you can’t do something.
“And” always opens you up to more choices, and forces you to think how you can do it.
This one little Magic Word can introduce you to an entirely new world filled with possibilities.
On Your Team,
Joe

This is such a good comment–I have started using “and” more when I speak–it sort of forces me to problem solve quickly when I don’t exactly know what the rest of the sentence will be if that makes any sense .
Great thought for me to start focusing on.
