Where's My Bagel?


Every day is fun at By Referral Only – it's one of our core values. And Fridays are no exception.

Each Friday around 8am, the Coaches, Promotional Coordinators, Business Development Consultants, even Information Technology gurus slowly start creeping toward the break room as the aroma of freshly baked bagels floats throughout the By Referral Only offices. And then, it happens…the mad dash for the bagels.

People rush to the break room and go for the goodies: cinnamon, raisin, onion, plain bagels, and their choice of toppings. There's always enough for everyone – unless they're late.

Here's Our Two Cents' Worth

This week, the U.S. Postal Service's Board of Governors approved a two-cent rate increase for first-class postage. The increase will take effect on January 8, 2006.

Now you'll have a perfect opportunity to "wow" people on your Top 150 list with this fun, easy and inexpensive touchpoint:

  • Head for your local Post Office and purchase 200 two-cent stamps.
  • Select 10 names from your Top 150 list and write a personal note to each. "Dear Frances, I waited in line so you wouldn't have to! Enclosed you'll find 20 two-cent stamps to help you through the January 8, 2006 U.S. postage increase."
  • Include 20 stamps with each note and mail. Cost? The price of your note cards, plus about $8 at the Post Office ($4 for 200 two-cent stamps and your postage to mail the touchpoint).
  • One week later, follow up your mailing with a phone call using the BOND formula. To review the BOND formula, click here, and get ready to plant referral seeds – and harvest them.

P.S. When the postage increase takes place, the postcard rate will also rise from 23 to 24 cents.
