Greetings from San Carlos, Mexico
Here’s a recent e-mail from George and Margaret Gadsby, with Homes-Link Real Estate in Alameda, California:
“Greetings from San Carlos, Mexico, where we’ve rented a house for three months. We’re doing a little traveling, but mostly we’re horseback riding on the Mexican ranges and beaches – this photo is one of the views we see when we’re riding – and making new friends in Mexico. “I wanted to take a moment to express Margaret’s and my gratitude for all that By Referral Only has done for us. I remember clearly where we were in our business in 1989 when Margaret went to a By Referral Only half-day workshop with one of our agents.
“In the 16 years that followed we’ve had ups and downs in the industry but we’ve stayed with By Referral Only through its evolution. Margaret and I sat in many Main Events listening to Joe Stumpf and watching him grow while we were doing the same. We’ve seen many iterations of your programs and have implemented almost all. The Strategic Leader Program was another turning point for our business and we’re looking forward to the next Strategic Leader Program.
“We’ve had highs and lows. We’ve had money and we’ve had none. We’ve stayed the course. As of this writing we are debt free and 12 months away from selling our highly profitable business.

Employee Spotlight Of The Month
Meet Joann Chapman, Accounts Receivable, our March 2005 Employee Spotlight Of The Month.
Joann received numerous glowing nominations from her By Referral Only colleagues, who said
- Joann always does her best to look at things from the member’s perspective and act in the best interest of the company.
- Joann’s internal customer service skills have “wowed” me and left me with a great impression of someone who knows how to get the job done to make all parties happy. Externally, Joann’s efforts enable me to go back to our new members and deliver great news on how we can support them and deliver world-class service.
- I am amazed at what Joann can accomplish in a day. She must be Super Woman to keep up.
And what does Joann say? “My goal is to offer our members unrivaled service in the form of a pleasant attitude, attention to detail, and the fulfillment of their accounting requests in the most expedient and accurate manner possible.”
Obviously you do just that, Joann. Congratulations.
The Dallas Main Event
The Dallas Main Event takes place April 18-20 at The Fairmont Dallas, conveniently located in the upscale Dallas Arts District, close to cultural activities and the West End Historic District, shopping, lively restaurants and nightlife.
