John McClaskie notes, "When you first get into business, your broker or your boss or somebody tells you what to do: 'Here are your rate sheets. Go buy some donuts and take them to Realtors and get business.' When you don’t know any better, you just go with that idea. You figure they know best and it'll work out fine. And then there are all those phone calls at all hours. I remember being at my son, Sean's, T-ball practice. I had my cell phone in the dugout with me, and a Realtor was on the phone, getting on my case because I couldn't pre-qualify their borrower right then. “Then three years ago I attended The Main Event, and thought this all makes sense, it seems like it’s going to work. Well, it definitely worked. My income is up about $50,000 a year, but the more important thing is I’ve increased my time off.
"At home I have a baseball – the first baseball my son ever hit over the fence. I was the pitcher. I was there to pitch the ball and see Sean slam it over the fence. And trust me when I tell you, my cell phone wasn’t on and I wasn’t worried if somebody needed something. I don’t know what price you put on something like that, but it’s way more important than the money. It’s peace of mind to know that you can have time off for your family.

The Atlanta Main Event
